Making their second straight home appearance of this season, the Golden Tornado basketball girls led at the end of every quarter against Class 6A Midland High, except the one which counts the most, the last.
For the second time in a year, the Klondike Cougars find themselves going back to the Region I-IA Tournament at San Angelo Central.
Despite finding themselves somewhat short-handed, O’Donnell’s girls basketball squad still put on quite a show on opening night at Eagle Gym Tuesday evening blowing, out the Ira Bulldogs, 56-24.
It wasn’t the final outcome that they wanted. The Dawson Dragons girls still had their moments in Tuesday evening’s season opener against Lorenzo at Welch before the Hornettes stung the Dragons, 53-18.

After winning 14 straight district championships and making 14 straight playoff appearances, the Borden County saw it all snapped a year ago when they managed to win only two district games, in what many insiders refer to as, one of the toughest in the state.
