STANTON It didn’t take long for the Brownfield baseball team to take control One half inning. Traveling to face Stanton in District 3-3A play, the Cubs dominated the Buffaloes from the outset on their way to a 17-0 five-inning run-rule victory on Tuesday.
While the temperatures were a little chilly, athletes competing in the indoor practice facility were on fire. Brownfield hosted the Texas High School Powerlifting Region I Championships on Thursday and Saturday.
What started as a slow, steady trickle turned into a flood of runs for the Brownfield softball team.
It wasn’t the outcome that Brownfield softball coach Zoey Garcia envisioned before the first pitch was thrown. In control early, the Lady Cubs watched Denver City rally for a 10-6 victory in the District 3-3A opener for both teams on Tuesday at Brownfield High School.
