Willie Mae Smith

    Funeral services for Willie Mae Smith, 89, of Lamesa, will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at Second Baptist Church with Chad Bullard and Pastor Tobey Clements officiating. 
    Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Branon Funeral Home. 
    Willie Mae passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Lubbock. She was born on April 6, 1930 in Moulton, Texas to Adolph and Minnie (Husemann) Berger. She married Millard Ray Smith on December 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2001. 
    Willie Mae was a talented seamstress and retired from Prophecy in Lamesa. Her hobbies included crocheting, ceramics, and gardening. 
    She is survived by her children, Billy Ray Smith and wife, Carol, of Lamesa, Donna Kay Bullard and husband, Tommy, of Lamesa, and Jennifer Ann Kern and husband, Tom, of Grapevine; daughter-in-law, Lea Smith of Lamesa; sister, Linda Pavliska of Hallettsville; brother, Jerry Berger of Huxley, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Janet Rodriguez, Janie Vidarid and Elisa Vela. 
    Willie Mae is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Smith; and brothers, Clarence Berger, James Berger, and Sidney Berger. 
    The family suggests memorials to Second Baptist Church, 1705 North Bryan Avenue, Lamesa, TX 79331.
