Verna Chavez

    Funeral services for Verna Lee Chavez (Esparza), age 56, of Lamesa, TX. will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    Family and friends will gather for viewing and visitation on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary prayer service starting at 6:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Verna was born December 10, 1965 in Lamesa, TX. She was married to Patricio Chavez.
    Verna was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Chavaria, her father, Manuel Esparza; her son, Dillon Chavez; her brother, Joe Ortiz; her sisters, Brenda Cathey, and Linda Ramirez; her nephew, Travis Esparza.
    Verna worked many years in healthcare starting with Lamesa Health Care Center, Sage Health Care, and Beehive Assistant Living where her duties included dietary manager, activity director manger. She loved to cook, bake, spending time with her grandchildren, love music and movies. Verna had a successful food trailer offering her famous “Gorditas.” 
    Verna is survived by her husband, Patricio Chavez of Orlando, Florida; her son, Hilaro Chavez and daughter-in-law, Mysia Chavez of Lamesa, TX.; her daughter, LeAnn Chavez of Lamesa, TX.; her brother, George Ortiz of Lamesa, TX.; her sisters, Sue Morales, and Shannon Esparza, both of Lamesa, TX., and Lynette Esparza of Idaho; her grandsons, Houston Chavez, Hilario Chavez, Jr., and Berlin Chavez, all of Lamesa, TX.; her granddaughters, Luna Chavez, and Violet Chavez, both of Lamesa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
