    A Catholic funeral mass service will be celebrated for Steve Hernandez, age 69, of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Chacko Thadathil officiating. 
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 1:00 pm. until 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary prayer service on Friday starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Steve passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was born on September 15, 1952 in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Esteban and Eluteria Hernandez; his sister, Santos Sorola; his niece, Gina Hernandez, his brother-in-law, Rudy Ramos.
    Steve worked many years with Automated Controls and then worked for the Lamesa ISD until his retirement. He was always a hard worker. Steve enjoyed Bar-B-Que cookouts, listening to Tejano music, dancing, and going to the Casino. 
    Steve is survived by his family: his son, Jonathan Hernandez of Lubbock, TX.; his grandson, Brody Hernandez of Lamesa, TX.; his siblings, brothers, Breezie Hernandez and sister-in-law, Sylvia of Lubbock, TX., Frankie Hernandez of Lamesa, TX.; his sisters, Geneva Hernandez and brother-in-law, Ruben of Lamesa, TX., Frances Ramirez and brother-in-law, Joel of Hobbs, NM, and Olivia Ramos of Lamesa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
