Shirley Laphaine Smith passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019.
A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 75 years at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel.

Shirley Laphaine Smith was born on October 1, 1943, to Milton Earl and Alice Eva Lord Greenlee in Lamesa, Texas. She grew up outside of O’Donnell on a farm and graduated from O’Donnell High School in 1961. She married David Carr Spraberry in 1973.
She received her LVN license in 1982 and worked for a doctor’s office in Lamesa, Texas. She moved to the Preston E. Smith prison unit outside Lamesa, Texas and retired from the John Montford prison unit outside Lubbock, Texas in 2005. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and volunteering at Live Oak Community Church.
Survivors include her children, Donna Renee Ford and husband, David, Kenneth Carr Spraberry and wife, Melissa, and Paul Greenlee Spraberry and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Ford, Lauren and Jackson Powell, Savanna Spraberry, Isaac Daniel Roberts and David Kalum Spraberry; and a brother, Derryl Greenlee.
She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Earl and Alice Eva Greenlee.
