Shirley Covington

    Graveside service for Shirley Dossey Covington, 84, of Lubbock, formerly of Lamesa, will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Tom Heath officiating. 
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa.
    Shirley passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas.
    She was born June 12, 1937 to Travis and Mary Louise (Therwhanger) Dossey in Klondike, Texas. She married Woody Covington September 12, 1954, in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 67 years.  She loved spending time with her family and cooking.  Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, Nana and will be greatly missed.
    Shirley is survived by her husband, Woody Covington of Lubbock; sons, Richard Covington and wife, Karen of Chandler, Oklahoma and Phil Covington and wife, Sarah of Snyder, Texas; six grandchildren, Megan Coburn (Jathan), Melissa Covington-EID, Amanda Allen (Michael), Sarah Donovan (Sean), Jenny Rogers (Hal) and Michelle Stilwell (Rowdy); and nine great grandchildren.  
    She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Jo Crouch and Patsy Wiley; brother, Stubby Dossey; and infant granddaughter, Everly Rogers.
