Sammye Hughlett

    Graveside service for Sammye Hughlett, age 79, of Lamesa, TX., will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt, Texas with Pastor Dee Woolam officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Sammye passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by her loved ones. 
    She was born June 1, 1942, in Dimmitt, Texas to J.B and Thelma (Youts) Moore. She married Orval Lee Hughlett May 30, 1962, in Clovis New, Mexico.  She retired from farming, loved to paint, enjoyed crafting, and making hats for cancer patients that were taking chemotherapy. Sammye loved collecting antiques and spending time at Brownwood Lake.  She adored her fur baby “Luke.”
    Sammye is survived by her children, Jeff Hughlett and wife, Kim of Houston, Texas and Stacye Cox and husband, Jeff of Georgetown, Texas; two grandchildren, Taylor Hughlett, and Whitney Hughlett; sister, Janis Williams of Lamesa, Texas; and brother, Larry Moore and wife, Gale of Altus, Oklahoma.  
    Sammye is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Joe Shane Hughlett; grandson, Joshua Zane Hughlett; and Charles (Butch) Scott, companion of 16 years.
