Ruth Scarborough

    Ruth Vernon Scarborough, age 91, passed away January 3, 2020. 
    She was born July 19, 1928, near Ralls, TX in Crosby County. Her parents were William Morris Vernon and Vera Truitt Vernon. 
    Ruth graduated from Brownfield, TX High School in 1945. She married John Scarborough on July 25, 1952.
    In 1962 Ruth and John moved to Lamesa and formed Scarborough Drilling Company, which is now owned and operated by their sons, Scott and Lane.  
    Survivors include her brother Joe Vernon, two sons; Lane and his wife Sharon, Scott Scarborough, and a daughter VaDonna Wood Anthony along with her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, who will miss their Mama Ruth. 
    Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Scarborough, her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Henry Zorns, and her sister-in-law Emma Jo Goodson Vernon. 
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Lamesa, Texas with Pastor Jim Medley officiating.
    Burial will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held on Monday January 6, 2020 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
