Richard Baty

    Funeral service for Richard Baty, 82, of Welch will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ben Phipps officiating. A burial will follow in Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Richard passed away December 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born April 8, 1941, to Alvy Frank Baty and Juanita Clovis(Henley) Baty in Lamesa, Texas. He married Patricia Jones on August 8, 1960, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They were married 63 years.
    Richard was a farmer most of his life. He enjoyed tinkering, woodworking, and golfing. He loved passing out cross stamped pennies wherever he went. He was very proud of the restoration of his 1956 Ford truck.
    Richard is survived by his wife, Patsy Baty of Welch; children, Phyllis Baty of Lamesa, Danny Baty of Lamesa and Brent Baty and wife, Shelley of Shiloh, Illinois; brother, William Roy Baty and wife, Cindy of Brownwood; sister in law, Deborah Baty of Midland; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Doyle Baty; and granddaughter, Toya Hogg.
