Refugio Morales

    Funeral services for Refugio (Cuco) Morales, age 93, of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 2, 2020 at the church of Agape Ministry with Pastors Manuel Salazar and Rudy Ortiz officiating. 
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Due to the current area Covid-19 situation we continue to practice public safety measures.
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 and Thursday October 1, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.  at Gonzales Funeral Home. An Inspirational Service will be held on Thursday October 1, 2020 starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Refugio passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 in Lamesa. 
    He was born on July 25, 1927 in Guadalupe Victoria, Durango, Mexico. Refugio married Sofia Ruiz on May 10, 1955 in Raymondville, TX.
    He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ricardo Morales; and a daughter, Maria De La Luz Morales.
    Refugio worked in farming until his retirement.  He loved to garden and work on his yard. Refugio enjoyed creating and building things, and he also loved baseball. 
    Refugio is survived by his wife, Sofia Morales of Lamesa, TX.; his sons, Andrew Morales, Robert Morales, and Antonio Morales, all of Lamesa, TX.; his daughters, Lucia Ortiz of Odessa, TX., Elizabeth Morales and Noemi Morales, both of Lamesa, TX.; 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
