Refugia (Ruth) Velasquez

    Family and friends will gather for a memorial funeral service to celebrate the life of Refugia (Ruth) Velasquez, age 64, of O’Donnell, TX at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Ruth passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. She was born December 16, 1957, in Taylor, TX. 
    Ruth married David Velasquez on December 29, 1973. 
    Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Cristobal and Genobeba Vasquez, and her grand some Zachery Leon. 
    Ruth was a strong and glorious wife and mother. She was loving, brave, kindhearted and generous. Ruth was a marvelous grandmother who was fun loving and enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
    Ruth was brilliant, optimistic, one of the most down to earth people you could ever come across. This woman was genuine and magnificent. 
    Ruth is survived by her husband,David Velasquez of O’Donnell, TX; her children, son, John David Velasquez and daughter-in-law, Amy Velasquez of Lamesa, TX; daughters, Michelle Rosas and son-in-law, Epie Rosas of O’Donnell, TX., Debra Ramires and son-in-law, Jesus Ramirez of Staton, TX. and Amanda Velasquez of Lubbock, TX.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.
