Pedro Gonzalez

    Pedro A. Gonzalez, 90, of Dimmitt passed away on Tuesday, September 01, 2020 in Dimmitt. 
    There will be a visitation on Thursday September 3, 2020 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home at 809 Butler Blvd, Dimmitt, TX.
    A Celebration of life will be Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ with Mr. Bailey Chisum officiating and Mr. Alonzo Ortega assisting.  Cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
    Due to COVID-19 guests are welcome to wear a mask, but it is not required at both services.
    Pedro was born on June 29, 1930 in Moulton, TX to Nemecio and Juanita (Avila) Gonzalez. Pedro married Julia (Rodriguez) on April 28, 1962 in Abilene, TX. He worked in Fluvanna, TX as a farmer for eight years. They then moved to Wilson, TX where he began his seminary education at Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX. He started preaching at the Church of Christ in Snyder, TX and later moved to Lamesa and while preaching at the Spanish Church of Christ, he began printing and sending Christian literature throughout Mexico and South America. In 1987 Pedro and his family moved to Dimmitt where he was the minister of the Spanish Church of Christ until the time of his passing. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, helping others and was a custodian at the Bedford Church of Christ. 
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
    He is survived by his wife; Julia R. Gonzalez of Dimmitt, two sons; Pedro A. Gonzalez Jr. and wife Lana of Lamesa, TX and Josiah D. Gonzalez and wife Leslie of Jefferson, SD., one daughter; Pricilla Ann Jackson Kragel and husband Fred of Alta, IA, five grandchildren; Pedro Javier Rodriguez and wife Jenna, William Jennings Jackson and wife Christa, Julia Elaine Jackson, Breckyn Elijah Gonzalez and Anikah Brielle Gonzalez and three great grandchildren, Cain Samountry, Tila Samountry and Salem Sioux Rodriguez. 
    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to High Plains Food Bank, 815 Ross St, Amarillo, TX 79102.
