Otis Newberry

    Graveside services for Otis Leroy Newberry, 84, of Lamesa will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Mark Hackett officiating. 
    Arrangements are under the care and direction of Branon Funeral Home.
     Otis was born June 11, 1938, in Knox City, Texas to Harry Elbert and Annie Lee (Funk) Newberry. He married Louise Heald on August 6, 1961, in Plains, Texas. They were married 61 years. 
    He worked 57 years in the oil field industry. He and Louise enjoyed spending time at their home in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
    Otis loved to spend time outside either hunting or fishing.
    He served on the Forestry Board and P.O.A. Board in Cloudcroft and the board of the Northridge Retirement Center for 10 years. He was a member of Lamesa Church of Christ for many years.
    Otis is survived by his wife, Louise Newberry of Lamesa; one daughter, Gezelle Newberry of Lamesa; two grandchildren, Mavrick Staudt of Lamesa and Alexis Hannsz and husband, Sterling, of Waco. 
    Otis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Floyd Holland, Wayne Newberry, and Ruby Ray.
