Morris Hasting
Morris Ray Hasting, 78 of Stanton, TX, passed peacefully on November 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m., November 15, 2021, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.
Morris was born on August 5, 1943, in Midland, Texas, to Lloyd and Mildred Hasting. He attended Stanton High School and The University of North Texas. He became a licensed pilot and began his career at Meacham Field in Fort Worth, TX. Thereafter, he was a pilot for Great Western Airlines in Ohio, Rich Air Aviation, Hissom Drilling Company and Basin Aviation in Midland, TX. He was also a flight instructor to many.
Morris loved anything fast! He loved racing cars and boats, flying airplanes, building racecars, and working on airplanes, as he was also an A&P Mechanic. His passion was building motors and farming. He loved his farm and invested his life there. Morris was quite the character and many of his friends would tell you, “There was only one Morris Ray.” His smile was infectious, his laugh was contagious, and he was a great friend to those he loved most.
He is survived by his children, son, Morris Ray Hasting, Jr. of Katy, Texas, wife, Dana and children Davis and Morgan; daughter, Dr. Mande Hasting Charvet of Austin, Texas, husband, Dr. Casey Charvet; daughter, Samantha Hasting Smith of Midland, Texas, husband, Justin Smith and children Hayden and Claire; cousin Elizabeth Shoemaker and family of Midland, Texas; cousins Carol Lee and Fran Hedrick of San Angelo, Texas and many friends. He will also be missed by his dogs Willow and Daisy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Modene Wilkerson; cousin, Don Wilkerson; uncle, Dan Wyatt; cousin, Bobbie Hedrick; aunt, Robbie Hedrick; cousin, Betty Sue Hedrick Caldwell and cousin, Kevin Shoemaker.
