Mattie Lee Dossey Smith

    Funeral service for Mattie Lee Dossey Smith, 94, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Clower officiating.  Burial will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Mattie passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born August 25, 1929, in Lamesa, Texas to W.E. and Beatrice (Owen) Murphy.
    First and foremost Mattie loved her God and her church. She had a love for fishing, playing dominoes and she could spend hours on her phone playing games. Mattie also loved to read, watch football and soccer, all with “Mia” by her side, her loyal dog who was her world. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
    She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rogers of Lamesa; four grandchildren, Shane Carter and wife Davina, Chad Dossey and wife Julie, Shelly Buchanan and husband Ted and Paige Rodriques and husband Montana; 13 great grandchildren; Ricky Murphy, Rex Murphy, Clayton Young, Jimmy Curry and their families; plus numerous other family members; sister, Joan Hunt of Huntsville, Alabama; and brother, Hubert Murphy of Virginia.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Dossey; sister, Frankie Curry; brother, Jackie Murphy; and husbands, Tom Dossey, and Pete Smith.
    The family suggests memorials be sent to a charity of your choice.
