Louie Lee Drennan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louie Lee Drennan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Born on November 25, 1933, in Brownfield, Texas, Louie was a man who embraced life with open arms. In 1952, he graduated from Dawson High School, Welch, Texas, and on March 13, 1954, he married the love of his life, Joyce Jayroe. Shortly after, he was drafted into the Army. Louie proudly served at Fort Bliss and in the Panama Canal Zone and lastly at Fort Nix, New Jersy.
After his military service in 1956, Louie returned to Welch, Texas, where he dedicated over 50 years to farming. He not only labored in the cotton fields but also managed Welch Gin and held a leadership position with the Texas Independent Ginners for a year. Louie’s commitment to his work was only rivaled by his dedication to his family and community, as he held various offices in the churches they attended over the years. Louie also enjoyed hunting and travelling with his family.
In 2019, Louie moved to Lubbock, Texas, where he enjoyed his retirement and continued to cherish time spent with family, especially with his beloved wife of just over 70 years, Joyce, whom he married on March 13, 1954. Louie had a passion for hunting and loved the great outdoors, often sharing those moments with his sons.
