Lester Smith, Jr.

    Lester Ray Smith, Jr., 64 of Lamesa, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023. 
    Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lamesa. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. 
    Lester was born on August 24, 1958 to Lester, Sr. and Velma Smith, in Lamesa, TX. 
    Lester grew up and attended school in Lamesa at Blackshear then graduated from Lamesa High School and after his completion of school Lester completed his driver training in 1979 for his commercial license. Although Lester had a strong love for the transportation industry, Lester went on to become a Master Electrician in 1983. 
    Lester was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. 
    Lester is preceded in death by his father, Lester Smith, Sr.; his mother, Velma Smith; sister, Debra Favors and his niece, Kami Favors. 
    Lester is survived by son, Eric Smith (Maribel); two grandchildren, Emily and Noah; a host of other relatives and friends.
