LaDon Matthews

    Funeral service for LaDon Matthews, 89, of Dallas, TX., formerly of Lamesa will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Lamesa Church of Christ with Minister Mark Hackett officiating. Burial will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    LaDon Matthews was born January 27, 1935 to A.B & Irene Chitwood . She married Glenn W Matthews on September 3, 1955 in Lamesa, Texas. They made their home in Lamesa and raised their two children Terry and Tracy. They were married 61 years. Glenn and LaDon were truly a great example of a loving and devoted marriage.
    Holidays were a special time for LaDon and her friends and family. She hosted many gatherings at her beautifully decorated home for all holiday occasions. Lots of great food, games and fellowship were shared in her home. LaDon was a long time devoted member of the Church of Christ. She was very active in the Church organizations. Her great faith was lived out in her daily routines and in her many loving friendships. Her battles with her health never affected her faith in the Lord. LaDon kept her positive outlook on life till the very end. She always had a word of encouragement for all she met and had such a kind heart.
    LaDon was a very talented artist and her wonderful paintings are enjoyed by all. She had many hobbies including her love of antiques. She had a huge interest in health issues and many turned to her for her great advice with vitamins and supplements. LaDon was always ready to help everyone in whatever area was needed.
    Those left to cherish her memory are: her son, Terry Matthews and wife Pat of Dallas; granddaughter, Shannon Barfield of Wichita Falls; special nieces, Donna Reed of Ruidoso, NM and Cindy Vannatta of Crawford and many grand nieces and nephews, cousins and treasured friends.
    LaDon was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter Tracy Matthews Healy, her infant grandson Jeremy Brian Yocom, her sister and brother-in-law Connie and Jr. Behringer, and a special nephew Thomas J Reed.
