Knoxie Gore
Knoxie Ann (Brown) Gore, 86, of Brownfield, Texas formerly of Brownwood, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Knoxie was born November 29, 1935 in Brownwood, Texas to Grayson and Blonnie Brown. She graduated from Brownwood High School. She obtained a Bachelors degree in education from Howard Payne University and a Masters degree in English Literature from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.
Knoxie married Charles Frank Gore Jr. on June 12th, 1954 in Brownwood and they began a life that blessed them with three children. Knoxie loved being a teacher and specifically an English teacher. She taught in education for over 30 years. Most of these years taught were at Lamesa High School. She impacted so many lives during that time and after. Any kid that ever had her would say “she was hard, but she was always fair.”
After retiring she and Charlie moved to the lake. During her time living at the lake, she played a huge role at the American Legion Hall and the North Lake Volunteer Fire Department. She took a leap of faith after retirement to invest her time into Andy Anderson Van Lines. She prospered in this new role and realized how much she enjoyed trying new things, no matter how scary they seemed.
She was a published poet who enjoyed writing during any free time she had. She was appointed on the Board at Caprock Federal Credit Union. She participated in The Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion. She attended First Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas for many years. In her later years, she attended First Christian Church of Brownfield, Texas. Knoxie was an avid reader, amazing cook, great hostess, and a friend to everyone.
Knoxie is survived by her sons, Todd Gore and wife Barbie of Lubbock, Texas, Joe Gore and wife Shannon of Niceville, Florida, and Phillip Gore and Mandy of Lubbock, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
