J.W. Putman
J.W. Putman, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age of 84.
He was born in Navarro County, Texas, on February 14, 1937, to Jessie Dean Putman and Rose Anna Mae (Morgan) Putman. After graduating from O’Donnell High School in 1956, J.W. served in the U.S. Army. He married Diane Baker on March 20, 1963. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lamesa.
For thirty years, J.W. worked as an engineer and in maintenance for the Highway Department before retiring in 1993.
Known as Mr. Fix It, he enjoyed anything with a motor and racecars. He loved to turn pens in his workshop and ride motorcycles with his brother, son, and grandkids. Still, he was happiest when surrounded by his pride and joy, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Diane Putman; son, Kyle Putman and his wife Berenda of Lamesa; siblings P.D. Putman and his wife Fran of Aztec, NM, and Ressie Mae Welty of Muleshoe, TX; three grandchildren, Shawn Putman and his wife Emily, Jared Putman and his wife Kayla, and Chelsea Putman; great-grandchildren, Holt Putman, JW Putman, Brooklyn Putman, and Tegan Salazar.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son Kevin Putman in 2020; brother Bill Putman in 1978; and sister Ruby Ray.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021, at Combest Family Funeral Homes in O’Donnell. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the O’Donnell Cemetery.
