Juan Cantu

    Funeral services for Juan R. Cantu, 74, of Lamesa will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    Viewing will begin Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on both evenings at Branon Funeral Home.
    Juan passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, in Lamesa Texas with his loving family and friends by his side.
    He was born October 29, 1948, in Reynosa, Mexico to Eliodoro and Bertha (Ochoa) Cantu. He married Albertina Ambriz on May 5, 1967 in Lyford, Texas. They were married for 55 wonderful years from which they were blessed with three beautiful daughters.  
    Juan is survived by his wife, Tina Cantu of Lamesa; daughters, Hilda Garcia of Idalou, TX., Annie Cantu of Lamesa, TX., and Lisa Lopez and her husband “Big Joe” of Lamesa, TX.; grandchildren, Eric Garcia, Nina Contreras and husband Joe, Melinda Torres and husband Joseph, Juan Garza, Gabriella Perez, Faith Soto, Stormy Soto and Brenden Soto; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hailey, Mariana, Jeremy, Julian, J.J., Jaiylee, Renee’ and Khalani; sisters, Guadalupe Trevino and husband Alejandro of LaVilla, TX., Cruz Cantu of Universal City, TX., and Josefa Robles of Universal City, TX.; brother, Ted Cantu and wife Annette also of Universal City, TX.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Abelardo Cantu; sister, Maria DeLaLuz Salazar; son-in-law, Eddie Garcia, and son-in-law, Rene Soto.
