Jose Luis Valdez

    Funeral services for Jose Luis Valdez, age 64, of Tahoka, Texas, and formerly of Lamesa, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
    Funeral service arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Face masks will be required at the funeral home and cemetery together with social distancing. Due to the area Covid-19 situation we continue with public safety measures.
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 starting at 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
    Jose Luis passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 in Tahoka, TX. 
    He was born on March 31, 1956 in Batesville, TX. Jose Luis married Ida Bocanegra on June 16, 1974 in San Jose, California. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Thomasa Valdez. 
    Jose Luis liked playing music and singing. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, talking on the phone daily with all his kids, loved football, and most importantly, he was a man of God. 
    Jose Luis is survived by his wife, Ida Valdez of Tahoka, TX.; his son, Jose Valdez, Jr. and wife, Araceli of Lubbock, TX.; his daughters, Eleanor Cantu and husband, Henry of Lamesa, TX., and Emily Kumpe and husband, David of Sherman, TX.; his precious grandchildren, Kacey Kumpe of Sherman, TX., Noah Kumpe, currently stationed in Alaska, Andrea Cantu, James Cantu, both of Lamesa, TX., Jose Valdez III, and Sophia Valdez, both of Lubbock, TX.  a host of relatives and friends.
