Jose Louis (Joe) Hernandez

    Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Jose Louis (Joe) Hernandez, age 55, of Lamesa, TX., on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with brother Mike Henandez officiating. 
    The burial will follow at the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Gonzales Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
    Joe passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Slaton, TX. 
    Joe was preceded in death by his twin brother at birth, Daniel Henandez; his daughter, Jennifer Nicole Hernandez; his parents, Ernesto and Lucia Hernandez; his sisters, Amanda Gonzales and Lupe Olvera; and his brother, Felix Hernandez.
    Joe was born in Lamesa, TX, on January 5, 1968, to Ernesto and Lucia Hernandez. He was the youngest of seven children. Joe was a hard worker all his life.  He wasn’t one to sit around; he liked to be kept busy. He was always doing odd jobs around his sister Lupe’s house or looking for yards to mow.  He always had to be doing something. He loved his cars and kept them meticulous. He loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids. Joe loved being around family and helped whenever he could. He had a good heart and was always joking around in his own way with his nieces and nephews. 
    Joe is survived by his loving family: his son, Joe Michael Hernandez of Lubbock, TX.; his daughter, Crystal Luz Santos of Lubbock, TX.; his brothers, David Hernandez, and Johnny Hernandez, both of Lamesa, TX.; his grandsons, Anthony Hernandez, Jovanny Hernandez, Jakobi Hernandez, all of Lubbock, TX.; his granddaughters, Analiyah Hernandez, and Joniah Hernandez, both of Lubbock, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
    Honoring Joe as his pallbearers are Anthony Hernandez, Patrick Hernandez, Lee David Hernandez, Arthur Hernandez, Miguel Olvera, Tony Soto.
