Jimmy F. Dunn

    Jimmy F. Dunn passed away in Odessa, Texas, on April 27, 2024. He was born on  September 18, 1947, in Lamesa, Texas, where he graduated from high school, class of 1965. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. During his time in the military, he was an aircraft mechanic. He worked in the oilfield in Crane, Ozona, and finally, Lamesa for many years. 
    As a skilled mechanic, he could be found oftentimes underneath the hood of a car tinkering around. He seldom missed the opportunity to watch a race, especially NASCAR, and cheer on his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt Sr and later Jr. As an active member of the First Baptist Church, he enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He and his wife Nikki celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. 
    He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Dunn and Ruby Dunn, siblings Jeryl Dunn and Janice Jager, and daughter Sabrina McKinney. 
    He is survived by his wife, Nikki Dunn of Lamesa, and his brother and sister-in-law, Van and Jamie of Farmington, Arkansas. He is also survived by children and sons and daughters in laws: Chris and Terri Anne of Edenton, North Carolina, Bryon and Rachel Dunn of Odessa, Michael and Amy Reyna of Cedar Park, Jason and Rayanna Hicks of Sterling City, and Jack and Mitzi Cheek of Post. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
    To honor Jimmy’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. The family will receive visitors at the First Baptist Church in the parlor on Tuesday, April 30, from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association of Texas or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
