Jean Brower
Funeral services for Jean Brower, 93, of Lamesa, Texas will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel. Rob Scofield of Topeka, Kansas is officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Sunday April 30, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
Jean passed away on Saturday April 22, 2023.
She was born October 8, 1929 (3rd of 4 children) to James Dillard and Emma Lee Dyer. She married Arnold Leon Brower on June 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1966.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Lamesa since the age of 12. She was a homemaker and was then employed by Lamesa Public Schools from 1967 to 1997 as a Teacher Aide. She enjoyed working with children both in public school and as a Sunday School teacher.
She attended Texas Christian University for one year. She was active and served as needed in Christian Youth Fellowship, Girl Scouts of America, Christian Women’s’ Fellowship, Genealogy Society, PTA and various high school organizations. She also served as Precinct Chair of the Republican Party. She was selected Mother of the Year at church and Educator of the Month at Lamesa ISD.
She is survived by children: Karyn Miller and husband Larry of Burleson; Emily May and her late husband, Bill of Bryan; Dr. Greg Brower and wife Cathy of Mobile, Alabama; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends.
Jean was preceded in death by an infant son born October 18, 1965, and her siblings: JD Dyer, Tennie Lengel and Dr. Royce Dyer.
