Freddy Cortez

    A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Freddy Cortez age 66 of Lamesa, TX. at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel, officiating and assisted by Deacon Saul Hernandez. 
    The burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. 
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, TX.
    Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 and Friday, December 20, 2019 at Gonzales Funeral Home with a Rosary prayer services starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Freddy passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in Lamesa. 
    He was born on July 29, 1953 in Lamesa. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Cortez, Sr. and Celia Cortez; brothers, Jesse Cortez, Arthur Cortez, Roberto Cortez, Ramiro Cortez, Manuel Cortez, and Guadalupe Cortez, Jr.; sisters, Elida Guicoza, Emma Diaz, Lydia Cortez, Olivia Rivera, and Lupe Cortez.
    Freddy was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and loved music and dancing. 
    Freddy is survived by his family, brothers, Lee Cortez, Sr. and wife, Elvia Cortez, and Rudy Cortez, all of Lamesa; sisters, Dalia Gonzales and husband, Emiliano Gonzales, Sr., Viola Cortez, and Carolina Cortez, all of Lamesa; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
