Fern Minter

    Geraldine Fern Minter, 95, went to be with her lord and Savior on February 23, 2021. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us. 
    Anyone who knew Fern enjoyed her happy outlook on life, her wicked sense of humor, and her love of life and family, She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for the 16 years her family lived at Union, and carried her Christian values throughout her life. Fern and Fred, her husband, were educators and leaders for 16 years at Union School, and every one of her students were special. 
    She was seen at every school function and on most all school trips. She was score-keeper for the Klondike basketball team for many years and never missed a game. 
    Fern loved to travel, and would go anywhere with her daughters or grandkids, She loved to fish more than anything, and when she and Fred lived at Lake Buchanan she would be out in the Boston Whaler bringing in those white bass. She also loved to play games, card games, dominoes, washers, and taught her grandkids how to play them all!!! 
    She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Jane Williams (Wayne, deceased), Mathis, Marguerite Cushanick, San Antonio, and Roxanne Strickland and husband Brad Freeman, San Antonio; 5 grandchildren, Brandy Berry, Chad Strickland, Chris Cushanick, Jennifer Cushanick and Brandon Williams; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters; and countless nieces, nephews, friends and former students. 
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred; one brother, Wayne; one sister, Juanita; and one grandson, David Nelson Williams. 
    Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. 
    A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
