Estella Ortiz

    Funeral Service for Estella Ortiz, 81, of Lamesa was held on September 16, 2023, at Branon Funeral Home Chapel with Hermano Trine Sanchez officiating. Burial followed in Dawson County Cemetery under the care and direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    Estella passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in Midland, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 6, 1942, in Kingsville, Texas to S.D. Sanchez and Elisa Mungia. She married Oscar Ortiz on November 6, 1959, they were married 63 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandparent that cherished her family unconditionally.
    Estella worked for Lamesa ISD for over 15 years and simply adored spending all her time with all the children at school. She also loved working in her yard and being surrounded by her flowers. Estella was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
    Estella is survived by her children, Norma Dirlam and husband Dan of Midland, Nora Ortiz-Juarez of Lamesa, Domingo Ortiz of Lamesa, Hilda Ortiz and Robert Flores of Midland, Oscar Ortiz, Jr. and wife Dena of Grand Prairie, Elisa Ortiz Avila of Grand Prairie, and Melissa Ray and husband Mark of Lamesa; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
    She is preceded in death by her parents S.D. and Elisa Sanchez; husband, Oscar Ortiz, Sr., brother Julian Sanchez and great grandson, Ethan Rocha.
