    Eric Anthony Uresti

Eric Anthony Uresti

Eric Anthony Uresti went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
Eric was born on April 21, 1982 in Lamesa, Texas to Sylvia Uresti. Eric moved to Midland in 1996. He had a great love for the theater and acting at an early age and was a Pickwick Player at Midland Community Theater. He forged friendships through his very special talent that lasted throughout his entire life.
He graduated from Lee High School in 2000. After college he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he continued to pursue his love for acting. One of most successful roles was that of The Cowardly Lion in the national touring production of The Wiz.
Throughout Eric’s life he loved entertaining people- acting, singing, dancing. Eric also enjoyed directing and brought several amazing productions to life like The Odd Couple, A Raisin in the Sun and Dream Girls. Eric was part of Midland Community Theater family and Maverick Players and appeared in countless shows including Evita, Hello Dolly, West Side Story, the Little Mermaid, Ladies of the Lounge and A Christmas Story. He also was involved in Summer Mummers throughout the years and his last time on stage was in the 2018 season.
Eric was recently planning a new project which was set to go to production in Summer 2019. He received funding grants and positive feedback and was so excited to bring a new, diverse source of entertainment to our community.
Eric Uresti was a bright light and a shining star and was always the life of the party. Eric was a local celebrity of sorts – he knew everybody and those he did not know knew him from local shows he appeared in and the work he did in the community. Eric never met a stranger and most everyone he met became a fast friend. He was larger than life. He had a huge smile and an infectious laugh. Eric not only enjoyed making people laugh but he also loved to build people up and make them feel good about themselves. He handed out compliments and always gave the best fashion advice. Eric had amazing sense of style and was always the best dressed man in the room. He was known for his dazzling shoe collection and colorful bow ties.
Eric was a fierce friend, who was supportive and encouraging and loved with his whole heart. Eric was a unique personality, loved planning and attending events and parties and was just so much fun. He was very clever and could be hilariously funny.
The only two things Eric loved more than entertaining was his family and Jesus. He checked up on his Mom daily and he lived for teasing his brothers. Eric was the fun uncle. He spent special time with his niece and nephew – summer afternoons at the pool and Sunday mornings with the kids at Tita’s house. Eric was orchestrating a reunion for summer 2019 for all the family to come together and celebrate – He succeeded just bringing them together a little earlier than planned.
Eric was a Christian, was so strong in his faith and readily proclaimed his love for the Lord. It was not unusual to hear him playing his gospel music and joyously belting out the lyrics for all to hear. He attended 7 Cities Church and particularly loved the praise and worship. We know our Eric Anthony is helping to direct heaven’s choir now with his first glorious performance in the stars this Christmas.
Eric is survived by his Mother Sylvia Uresti, Brothers Steven and Isaac and his wife, Emily, and their children, Joshua and Julee, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Eric is survived by a multitude of friends and his chosen sisters/best friends and their families: Kesha Hailey, Kat Wright, Martha Oropesa and Kathleen Kirwan- Haynie.
Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Benita and Venustiano Uresti.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland and a celebration of Eric’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at 7 Cities Church, 5110 W. Illinois Avenue, Midland, Texas.
Eric Anthony Uresti made his mark in this world with his effervescent personality, loving heart, amazing talent and colorful flair and he will not soon be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
