A Catholic Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Elisandro Carrion, Jr. (Alex) age 68 of
Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor David Cruz officiating. The burial committal will follow at the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00
p.m., and Friday, October 4, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Rosary prayer services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Alex passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Lubbock TX. He was born on January 3, 1956, in
Lamesa, TX. Alex married Sylvia Molina on May 21, 1977, in Lamesa, TX.
Alex was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Ann Carrion; his father, Elisandro Carrion, Sr. and his mother, Dora Vera; his father-in-law, Jose Molina, and mother-in-law, Maria Molina.
Alex worked in the cement business until 1978, then he went into carpentry work with Dee Phillips, Victor
Lentz, and Neil Hutchinson, some of the best teachers to learn from. Alex said his biggest teacher and mentor was Manuel F. Vargas who taught Alex more than just carpentry. Later Alex established his own business as Carrion Carpentry. Alex enjoyed making and designing custom cabinets, saying it always felt relaxing. He played baseball, loved to go fishing with his friends, dancing, traveling, but he always enjoyed going to family gatherings. As the years went by Alex would use his telephone to call people he knew with sincere greetings of Happy Holidays and Happy Birthdays.
Alex is survived by his wife, Sylvia Carrion of Lamesa, TX.; his son, Elisandro Carrion III and his daughter-in-law, Carissa Carrion of Lubbock, TX.; his grandson, Eliseo Azariah Carrion of Lubbock, TX.; his brother, Danny Carrion and wife Anita Carrion of Lamesa, TX.; his sister, Dora Alvarado of South Carolina; his nephews and nieces, Juan, Jordan, Manny , Eva Carrion of Andrews, TX., Noe, Sonia, Molly Carrion of
Lamesa, TX., Christine, Ari, Camilo, Nolan, Sophia Nunez of Lubbock, TX.; Debbie, Isaih, Aaron Mercalco of Lubbock, TX.; Kenneth, Pam, Aiden Casarez of Lubbock, TX., Abrian Casarez of Lubbock, TX., Opal, Yvonna
