A Catholic funeral mass was celebrated for Eddie Lee Garcia at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Chacko Thadathil and Father Rudy Crasta officiating.
Burial committal followed to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing and visitation was held on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
On Wednesday evening August 10, 2022, Eddie Lee Garcia of Idalou, TX (formerly Lamesa, TX) was surrounded by his loved ones when he was called home.
Being the youngest of 5 children he was born to Ricardo and Beatrice Garcia in Tahoka, TX on July 29, 1957. Hard worker: Eddie was employed as a farmer and truck driver eventually owning his own Trucking company (G&G Trucking). However, his true passion was in Law Enforcement where he served for 30 plus years.
Loving Husband, Father and friend he spent his time in the kitchen and outside on the grill cooking his famous peach cobbler and finger licking BBQ grilling alongside the 3 Amigos, making memories around the table. Known as the Life of the Party, Eddie will always be remembered as a man you could depend on.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sister Viola Mojica, grandson Avyn, and nephews Ray and Arthur Mojica.
Eddie is survived by his wife Hilda Garcia; sons Adrian Garcia (Christina) Lubbock, TX and Eric Garcia, Idalou, TX; daughters Rebecca Ortiz (Seferino) Lamesa, TX and Autumn Villafranco (Miguel) Weatherford, TX; siblings, Evila Lopez (Nick), Richard Garcia Jr. (Judy), Johnny Garcia (Dora) all of Lamesa, TX. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
