Dorothy “Dot” Marie Lauderdale Smith

    Funeral service for Dorothy “Dot” Marie Lauderdale Smith, age 85, of Lubbock, will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Lamesa Church of Christ with Ben Lauderdale officiating. Interment will follow to Gail Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 6-7 pm at Branon Funeral Home.
    Dot passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born August 21, 1939, in Lamesa, Texas to William Lee and Elizabeth Ellen (Monroe) Lauderdale.
    Dot devoted herself to serving God, her family, and many others throughout her life. She married Jerry Ross Smith in 1956, while residing on the Smith Farm in Borden County raising three kids. She worked at the North Texas State Hospital Security Department for many years, while there, she earned the security Department Employee of the Year in 2010. After retirement she moved to Lubbock, Tx.
    Dorothy is survived by her son, Clifton David Smith and wife Diane of Lubbock; daughter, Lisa Smith White and husband Cary of Lubbock, and was known as D’Dock to her grandchildren, Meagan Smith Gilbert and Tiffany Smith Heatwole and husband Eric Heatwole, Barrett Smith, Ross Puckett and Reese Tate Puckett and wife Olivia; great-grandchildren, Breegan Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Aiden Heatwole, Addie Heatwole, and R.J. Puckett.
    She is preceded in death by Jerry Ross Smith; her sons, Billy Pat Smith and Bradley Ross Smith; and siblings, Beatrice Hodges, Geraldine Cox, Ella Williams, Burnice Stevenson, Munroe Lauderdale, Wanda Lee Callaway, Calvin Jack Lauderdale, Douglas Edward Lauderdale, Gilbert Pitman Lauderdale, George Lauderdale, and Richard Wayne Lauderdale.
