Dora Tapley     

    Graveside service for Dora Tapley, 95, of Lamesa will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Susan Felty officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.
    Dora passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, in Lamesa surrounded by her family. She was born July 3, 1929, in Castor, Louisiana to Pryor Lee Swafford and Hattie Geneva (Brown) Swafford. She married Charles Lenard Tapley on October 11, 1954, in Lovington, New Mexico. They were married 37 years.
    Dora loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and dancing. The family would like to thank Staci and Crystal of CenterWell Home Health and her therapists, David and Tim, for their special care of Dora. Thank you to Sanctuary Family Farms for the love and support provided.
    Dora is survived by her children, Karen Elmore of Temple, Lenard Tapley and wife, Deanna of Lubbock and Sheila Osborn and wife, Jennifer of Anderson; grandchildren, Colton Elmore (Sarah), Mikka Elmore, Joshua Osborn ( Christina), Cody Osborn (Jennifer), Dina Maria Tapley Axtell ( Reas) and James Michael Tapley (Lauren); great grandchildren, Emersyn Osborn, Greyson Osborn, Corbin Osborn, Devon Osborn, Clayton Osborn, Remington Elmore, Autumn Elmore, Kyra Axtell, Drake Axtell, Daxton Axtell, Kaeden Axtell, and Jasper Axtell; and many nieces and nephews. 
    She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Charles Lenard Tapley; and siblings, Ira Lee Swafford, William Emmett Swafford, Rupert Alvin Swafford, Ellis Dewayne Swafford, Dallas Swafford, Grace Louise Copeland, Ora Mae Bogues, Flora Geneva Bates and Martha Lucille “Susie” Herring.
