Consuelo 'Connie' Esparza

    A Catholic funeral mass service will be celebrated for Consuelo (Connie) Lopez Esparza, age 92, of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, and on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary prayer service will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Consuelo Lopez Esparza went to her heavenly rest on Monday, October 12, 2021, at her home in Lamesa, TX., surrounded by friends and family. 
    She was born on November 16, 1928, in Karnes City, TX. Connie met and married her husband, Albert Esparza in 1947 at the age of 18.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Esparza, Sr.; her parents, Manuel and Maria Lopez. 
    Connie was 1 of 4 Lopez children, but also had 3 step-brothers and 4 step-sisters. The family moved to Lamesa in 1938 from Karnes City, TX. Connie had been very active in her Catholic faith being a ;ifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, becoming a Eucharistic Minister, and a lifetime member of the church organization of the Guadalupanas Faith Ministry. Connie and her husband Albert were also active in the Cursillistas church movement. She dedicated her life to taking care of others. Connie shared her love to numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved unconditionally.
    Connie is survived by her son, Albert Esparza, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Harlingen, TX.; her daughter, Ninfa E. Padilla of Lamesa, TX.; two grandchildren, Albert Brett (Lizzette) of Harlingen, TX., and Anastasia Esparza Padilla of Lubbock, TX.; 3 great-grandchildren, Albert Brett Jr., Sophia Grace, and Summer Deanne, all of Harlingen, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
    A special Thank You to Interim Nurses, Sheila, Allison, Jessica, and Sam for their special care in her times of need. A sincere appreciation to her providers, Christina Granado and Alexis Lugo.
