Bernabe Ismael Guerra
A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Bernabe Ismael Guerra age 86 of Lamesa, TX. at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Saul Hernandez officiating. The burial will follow at the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the trusted care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, October 17 th and Friday, October 18 th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Friday evening prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home.
Bernabe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Lamesa, TX. He was born on April 27, 1938, in Roma, Texas. Bernabe married Paula Padron on August 28, 1957, in Greeley, Colorado.
Bernabe loved going to the casino and playing Bingo. He enjoyed lounging in his recliner as he watched his favorite shows: Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, Jeopardy, and old westerns. He loved watching his grandkids, his pride and joy, and attended as many of their events as possible until he couldn’t any longer. He treasured the time spent with family and friends.
Bernabe will be remembered for his big heart, his one-of-a-kind humor, and his fiery spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernabe and Paula Guerra; his wife, Paula P. Guerra; his sons, Gilbert Guerra and wife Sonia, Gabriel Guerra; his grandsons, Mateo Reyna, Noel Guerra; his great-grandson, Daylon Deshawn Guerra.
Bernabe is survived by his family, his sons and daughters, Joe and Elida Dimas of Lamesa, TX., Ismael and Amy Guerra of Anna, TX., Juan and Estella Guerra of Lamesa, TX., Jesus Guerra of Granger, TX., Leonard and Isabel Macias of Lamesa, TX., Roberto and Maryann Guerra of Lamesa, TX., Jinkin and Julia Ortiz of Lamesa, TX., Alfredo and Eliza Guerra of Levelland, TX., and Andreas and Jamie Guerra of Georgetown, TX.; 34 grandchildren, with 2 in Heaven; 48 great-grandchildren, with 1 on-the-way and 3 in Heaven; 1 great-great grandchild and 2 on-the-way; his brother Jesus “Tio Chuy” Guerra; and sister Tia Juana Avila; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
