Barbara Jean Stone

    Barbara Jean Stone, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and devout servant of the Lord, passed away on July 22, 2024, in Lubbock, TX, surrounded by her loving family. 
    Born on December 31, 1936, in Lamesa, TX,     Barbara dedicated her life to serving others and her faith. Barbara’s passion for music was evident throughout her life, perfectly complementing her role as a pastor’s wife in Lamesa. She shared her talents as a pianist. Barbara married Harold Stone on November 25, 1965, in Lamesa. She was employed as the Treasurer for Dawson County for many years. 
    She is survived by her daughter, Taleta Smith, and her son, Kirk (Vickie) Staggs; seven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Kenneth Hogg and Nelson (Cheryl) Hogg along with numerous nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Vera Fuller. Barbara’s memory will live on through the lives of her family members and all those who were touched by her kindness and grace. 
    Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stone, parents, Frank and Zora (Woods) Hogg; and three siblings and a son-in-law Robert Smith.
    A service to celebrate her life of 87 years was on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm in the Lamesa Cemetery.
