A Catholic funeral mass was celebrated for Argentina Maria Castillo age 79 of Lamesa, TX., at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St.
Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Saul Hernandez officiating.
Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
The visitation will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Prayer service

Maria passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her home in Lamesa, TX., surrounded by her family. She was born on June 6, 1944, in Brady, TX. Maria married Alfredo Castillo on April 28, 1959, in Lamesa, TX.
Maria was preceded in death by parents, Pedro and Dometila Garcia; her sisters, Oralia Zamarripa, and Mercedes Lozano; her brothers, Leandro Garcia, and Juan Garcia; her son-in-law, Danny Lozada.
Maria enjoyed spending time with family. She was always there for everyone, and all her family knew they could go to her for everything. She was the Number One supporter of her great-grandsons and loved watching them play sports. Maria enjoyed cooking for her family and loved crocheting, and ironing. Together with her husband Alfredo, for 34 years they participated in the annual Fiestas Celebrations here in Lamesa as well as surrounding areas, where they sold the best tasting Fajitas!
Maria is survived by her family, husband Alfredo Castillo of Lamesa, TX.; her son, Manuel Castillo of Lamesa, TX.; her daughter, Nancy Lozada of Lamesa, TX.; her only grand-daughter, Mandee Lozada of Lamesa, TX.; her grandsons, Isaac Lozada of Lamesa, TX., Mark Lozada of Austin, TX., and Gabriel Castillo of Tucson, AZ.; her great-grandsons, Draven Chavez, and Luke Chavez, both of Lamesa, TX., and Charlie Castillo of Tucson, AZ.; her son, Michael Lopez of Lamesa, TX.; her brother, Genaro Garcia, Sr. of Lamesa, TX.; her sisters, Aurelia Rodriguez of Lubbock, TX., and Marcella Garza, Isabel Lopez, Janie Gonzales, all of Lamesa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
The pallbearers are Mark Lozada, Isaac Lozada, Michael Lopez, Genero Garcia, Jr., Arthur Garza, Ben Lozano, Mario Chapa. Honorary Pallbearers are Draven Chavez, Luke Chavez.
