Anner Smith

    Funeral services for Anner Smith, age 95, of Lamesa will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 7, 2019 at St. John’s Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Jerome Johnson officiating. Burial committal services will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    A Wake service and family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Anner passed away on Sunday May 26, 2019 in Lamesa. 
    She was born on November 19, 1923 in Palestine, Texas to Melvin and Georgia Edwards. Anner married Ruben Smith in 1952 in Lamesa.  
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ruben Smith; her brothers, Melsyki Edwards, Eddie Lee Edwards, Webster Lee Edwards, Jessie Lee Edwards, and Melvin Edwards; sisters, Hattie Edwards, Ammer Jean Edwards.
    Anner worked for Medical Arts Hospital and Sage Nursing Home up until her retirement. She volunteered at the Dawson County Seniors Center in the clothing area until there was a decline in her health. 
    Anner leaves to cherish her many memories, one brother, Heziki Edwards of Hobbs, NM; three sisters, Roise Nell Wright, and Betty Richardson, both of Lamesa, and Daisy Ruth George of Odessa, TX.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
