Alvarene (Rene) Laughlin, 87, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. A service will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch
Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM at the Dawson County Cemetery, Lamesa, Texas.
Rene was born on July 21, 1937, in Roaring Springs, Texas to Charlie and Susie Posey. She finished high school in Roaring Springs and married Gary Belmont Laughlin, January 28,
1955. They had 2 children, both boys: Gary Jay Laughlin born January 29, 1956, and Reny Belmont Laughlin born September 1957. Rene and Gary move around in their early years where Gary would work as an electrician for various construction projects. In 1959, Rene and
her family moved to Odessa, Texas where she worked for the First National Bank. In 1966, they moved to Lamesa, Texas where she worked for the Chevrolet dealership. They lived in Lamesa until their 2 sons completed high school and then moved to Midland, Texas where she worked for Giebel Petroleum. They lived in Midland for the next 40 years.
Rene loved supporting her sons in their various school and athletic activities and Gary and her made many trips to attend football games while her sons were both in high school and college. Rene and Gary were active in the First Baptist Church in Lamesa and then Alamo Baptist Church in Midland. One of her true passions was working with her church and her Sunday
school class to help and support others. She also enjoyed traveling and playing golf with her family and friends.
Rene is survived by her 2 sons and her sister, Ronda Webb. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, her 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Rene is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Laughlin, father Charlie Posey, her mother Susie Sain, and her brother Charles Posey.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at the Permian Residential
Care Center in Andrews, Texas who provided care for the last years of her life, particularly for
the people in the Memory Care unit who added to the quality of her life.
