Graveside service for Betty LaVerne Mooney, age 93, of Lamesa, will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home.
Betty passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Lamesa, Texas. She was born July 6, 1931, in Alvord, Texas to Fred and Alma (Herwick) Davis. Betty lived a full life and loved her family deeply. She was a devoted housewife and always tried to cater to other’s problems and concerns instead of her own. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served on the bereavement committee and worked in Mother’s Day out as well as supported the Senior Citizens group known as Oasis with various levels of involvement. She loved serving others both inside and outside of church. Additionally, Betty supported her husband in his different employment-related capacities and worked alongside him when necessary and when applicable.
Betty loved Jesus and that guided what she did and how she did it. She accepted him as her Lord and Savior at a very young age. Betty taught her children about God and though sometimes difficult to raise, the children became grateful for these teachings later in life. Betty’s family and friends know that the crown she receives in Heaven will be bright indeed.
Betty is survived by her son, Robert Wade Mooney of O’Donnell; granddaughters, Amanda Hope Pulliam and husband, Keith Ryan of Midland, Sara Diane McKandles and husband, David Paul of Midland; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Clair Pulliam of Midland, great-granddaughter Cora Gray McKandles of Midland. She is preceded in death by her husband; sons, Richard Eugene Mooney and Russell Allen Mooney; her parents; and her brother, Lloyd Davis.
The family suggests memorials be sent First Baptist Church Bereavement Fund 801 S. 1st, Lamesa, TX 79331. To send condolences online, please visit: www.branonfuneralhome.com
