Kallan Luke Mires

Kallan Luke Mires, the toughest 4 and a half year old cowboy around, was born May 4, 2020 to Toby and Katy Mires of O’Donnell, Texas. On November 11, 2024 Kal Luke decided to saddle up with Jesus and head to the pastures of Heaven where his dinosaur “RAWR!” can be heard for miles and miles and where the tractors never run out of diesel. Kal Luke’s love for farming, feeding cows, his sister Storey, and all things little boy was the perfect embodiment of a son. His infectious smile and playful, ornery personality reminded everyone he met to not sweat the small things and to love and live, Kal Luke Strong. It was fitting that Kal Luke chose Veteran’s Day to end his battle, a day reserved only for the toughest fighters as Kal was amongst the elite. Kal Luke was surrounded by his loving family and friends on the farm that he adored so dearly.
Through his father’s leadership, his mother’s grace, and Storey’s relentless dedication, he displayed the way and the light that our Savior has reserved for all. If on a still day you hear a soft swat coming from the sky you can rest assured that Kal Luke is up there giving whoopin’s to everyone he encounters. Like his favorite Toy Story character, “To infinity and beyond” Kal Luke. You are so loved.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Toby and Katy, and sister, Storey of O’Donnell; grandparents, Travis and Kay Mires of O’Donnell and Ricky and Stacy Byars of Nocona; great grandparents, Sheila Stephens of Plains and Francis Mires of O’Donnell; aunts and uncles, Chris and Cally Cantrell, Landon and Megan Mires, and Travis and Macy Begley; cousins, Jaityn, Krew, Lawtyn, Slaton, Baighlor, Easton, and Beckett; and Grandma Sylvia Montez.
Kal Luke was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Bowen Stephens, Bobby and Sue Storey, Harold Mires, and Buster and Kathryn Byars.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, November 14, 2024, at First Baptist Church of O’Donnell. Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, November 15, 2024, at the O’Donnell High School Gymnasium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Kal Luke Strong Memorial Fund at Lamesa National Bank or High Cotton Relief Fund.
