Margarita Acevedo
Margarita Acevedo, was surrounded by her loving family as she was met in Heaven by the King of Kings on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Margarita was born in Seguin, Texas, to Inez and Lenora Sanchez. She met the love of her life, Pascual Acevedo, while living in Seguin, Tx. They later married in 1953 and had 3 children, Irma, Rosa, and Grace. In 1964, Pascual and she opened their family run business, Acevedo’s Restaurant, in Lamesa, Tx. When Pascual passed in September of 1975, Margarita and the girls continued the business. What started out as small family-owned bakery has now grown into being Margarita and Pascual’s biggest legacy. It is now a restaurant rooted in rich tradition and building strong family values for 60 years and counting.
She touched many people’s lives at the restaurant and helped many get their first job. She was hardworking and loved many like a mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her legacy lives but she will be deeply missed.
Margarita was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista and was first and foremost a follower and friend of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved others with His love and was always so blessed to see friends and family visit her at the restaurant. Often, people felt more loved and blessed leaving than they did entering because of her.
Margarita was met in Heaven by a cloud of witnesses, including her parents, Inez and Lenora Sanchez; husband, Pascual Acevedo; siblings, Inez Sanchez, Jr., Salvador Sanchez, Joe Sanchez, Soyla Martinez, and Olivia Cisneros.
She lives on in the hearts of her children, Irma Acevedo of Lamesa, Rosa Gonzalez and husband George Lara of Lamesa, Grace Cantu and husband Hector of Lamesa, and Janie Ortiz and husband George of Lamesa; grandchildren, Adam Cantu (Sarah Benitez) and Amanda Cantu; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cantu, Morgan Cantu, Reagan Cantu, and Alexis Cantu.
Her celebration will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Lamesa at 2 pm with Pastor Abel Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Branon Funeral Home, Tuesday October 15 from 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Wednesday, October 16 from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, with a special service at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
The family welcomes flowers and asks that any memorial donations be made to the John Hagee Ministry for Israel as it was a cause dear to Margarita’s heart. www.cufi.org.
