Residents felt the earth move for a few seconds early Monday evening when an earthquake occurred near Ackerly.The earthquake, registering at magnitude 5.1 on the Richter scale, hit 21 miles west-southwest of Ackerly at 7:49 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) usgs.gov website.The tremor was felt by some in Lamesa. City, fire department and law enforcement officials reported there were no lasting after effects from the quake.“We didn’t get any reports.
