The Sands High School’s varsity cross country teams competed last Saturday in the Lubbock Invitational Cross Country Meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.Battling injuries, the Mustangs and Lady Stangs competed well against other 1A competition.The girls’ team took seventh places out of 18 teams. A total of 140 runners competed in the event.Medalists Sophia Haston took 10th place with a time of 13:59 while Kaylynn Derry captured 12th place with a time of 14:13.Hayley Connell took 35th place with 14:57.
