Second Baptist Church member Vicky Winford was there 26 years ago when her church hosted the first “Backto- School Giveaway.”When it first began, volunteers only distributed pencils, Crayons and paper to Dawson County students preparing for the new school year.It’s expanded since then to include clothing, more of an array of school supplies and hygiene products.Volunteers are again distributing free school items from 8 a.m. until noon, Saturday at the First Methodist Church at 409 N. 3rd Street.Parents or guardians need to be accompanied by their children.
