Judy passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 17, 1947, in Tulia, Texas to J.P. McCasland and Dorothy (Ray) McCasland. She married the love her life, Gary Jones, July 10, 1964 in Lamesa, Texas at First Baptist Church. They were happily married for 59 years.
Judy was a devoted wife, loving grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord. She worked side by side with her husband Gary on the farm for 59 years, a testament to their enduring partnership and commitment to each other. Their bond was a profound faith in Jesus Christ, whom Judy served diligently throughout her life. Her dedication to ministry was evident in her involvement with Cowboy Church Ministry, Walk to Emmaus, and Kairos Prison Ministry. Judy and Gary were actively involved in leading worship for many years, where Judy’s leadership was guided by the Holy Spirit, touching the lives of many with her heartfelt praise. She was a minister and shared Jesus with everyone she met. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior.
Outside of her ministry and the farm, Judy enjoyed tending to her beautiful yard and watching birds, particularly vibrant red birds and hummingbirds. In her later years, her family introduced her to a new passion: hunting. She embraced this new hobby with great enthusiasm and spent cherished moments with her family in the quiet solitude of a blind, patiently waiting for deer, hogs, coyotes and any other game to appear. These outings created memories that will endure for a lifetime.
Judy found the greatest joy in being “Mama JuJu” to her four beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She poured her love and faith into their lives, attending their events and sharing the message of Jesus with them, leaving behind a Godly legacy that will endure for generations. Judy’s warm and welcoming nature extended far beyond her own family, as she became “Mama Juju” to everyone she met.
Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Jones; her children, Shelly Moore and Kirk Jones and wife Kembra, all of Lamesa; grandchildren, Megan Becker and husband Mason of Brownfield, Tyler Moore and fiancé Kati Krause of Lamesa, Hunter Jones and wife Linzey of Dripping Springs, and Rayme Jones of Lamesa; great-grandchildren, Madden and Macall Becker of Brownfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank McCasland; and son-in-law Monte Moore.
The family suggests memorials to La Mesa de Dios Emmaus Community or Kairos Prison Ministry.
