Dawson County’s Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) rating has gone up, but it’s still in better shape than other counties.Fire and county officials pay attention to the KBDI numbers while determining whether to install burn bans. Those ratings are based upon an area’s dry vegetation and moisture levels.Within the past month, Dawson County’s KBDI rating only increased by eight points.
