Graveside services for Sarah Louise Gilleland, 91, of Gail and Lubbock, Texas, will be held Monday, April 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gail Cemetery with Randy Hardman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Selae Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home of Snyder.
Mrs. Gilleland passed from this earth on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Lubbock and began a new journey, walking hand-in-hand, with our Lord and Savior.
She was born on June 30, 1932, in Whitehouse, Texas.
She was married to Arvil (Babe) Brewer on July 1, 1948 in Lynn County, Texas.
She moved to Houston and was employed by the Houston Health Department where she served as a clerk. She met and later married Billy Otto Gilleland on January 29, 1974 in Houston. Upon their retirement they moved to Huntsville. In December, 2011 she moved to Gail and resided with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Huntsville and where she sang with the choir. As a member of the choir she participated in musical presentations to the community, retirement and assisted living facilities and numerous correctional facilities, always willing to share her faith and the word of God through music.
She loved to work in her yard and garden, tending the flowers and growing fresh vegetables.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Anne Sharp and husband Ross of Gail; Grandson Jason Sharp of Lubbock; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Abraham “Tom” and Annette “Anne” (Coonrod) Nelms and Mary Elizabeth Helton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity or organization of your choice.
