Berta Annette Vogler

    Services for Berta Annette (Borland) Vogler, 101, of Lamesa were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Lamesa Church of Christ with Mark Hackett, Minister, officiating. Burial was in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
    Mrs. Vogler died on Friday, April 12 at Focused Care of Lamesa. She was born February 26, 1923, in Scurry County, Texas to L.W. and Velma (Livingston) Borland. She graduated from Union High School in Dawson County in 1941 as valedictorian of her class.
    She married Oscar Paul Vogler on June 14, 1944 in Lamesa. They lived and worked together on their farm 10 miles southwest of Lamesa and were married for 48 years until his death in January 1993. She was a member of the Lamesa Church of Christ where she was a Bible class teacher for many years. She loved to quilt and sew. More than anything, she loved to serve others.
    Survivors include a son, Billy Don Vogler and wife Lana of Lamesa; a daughter, Paula Thornton and husband Ronald of Lamesa; three grandchildren, Eric Thornton of Chandler, Texas, Nicole Oberle and husband Clif of Richmond, Texas, and Derek Vogler of Lubbock, Texas; six great-grandchildren: Cameron Oberle and Eli Oberle of Richmond, Texas, Wesley Thornton and Kade Thornton of Chandler, Texas, and Allison Vogler and Colton Vogler of Lubbock, Texas; and one sister, Nina Freese of Amarillo, Texas.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Vogler; her parents, L.W. and Velma Borland; two brothers, Hollis Borland and J.D. Borland; and two sisters, Marie Rinewalt and Betty Miller.
    Pallbearers were Jody Howard, Montie Foster, Kevin Pepper, Glen Borland, Larry Borland and Danny Beck.
    The family suggests memorials to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home or the Children’s Home of Lubbock.
